This is a remembrance with a difference. A gesture in memory of an outstanding colleague whose tragic end compelled ZILLIONe Systems Solutions (Pvt) Ltd to donate a lasting tribute in his name. It was an epitaph that left an invaluable legacy of computer knowledge and skills for the youth in his hometown, Badulla. Chaminda Rajmanthri joined the Systems Integration Division at ZILLIONe in June 2005 as a Technical Specialist and within a very short time, became an outstanding employee, specializing in system security. Within a year he was promoted to the position of Information Security Consultant and a dazzling career seemed imminent. Yet it was not to be. Chaminda died in a road accident when the vehicle he and his friend were traveling in collided with a bus, while visiting his hometown last year. To commemorate the first anniversary of this tragic death, ZILLIONe will donate computers to setup a lab at his village temple so that youth with competent computer skills will continue to emerge from this remote area, the way Chaminda did. The opening of the computer lab was held on 18th May, with the participation of ZILLIONe staff members whose thoughtful donation and continued support of the project will leave an indelible mark in Sri Lanka's professionalism in IT.
